CHENNAI: Vidya Mandir HSS (Mylapore) with 77 points and Guru Nanak College with 46 points emerged winners respectively in the K.C.G. Memorial Trophy inter-school and inter-collegiate swimming meet organised by the Hindustan Sports Foundation over the weekend.

Sishya Adyar (74 points) and Velammal International School (56) finished second and third among schools while M.O.P Vaishnav (36) and T.N. Institute of Labour Studies (14) were second and third in the Colleges’ section.

Chennai girls win

Chennai won the girls’ title in the junior State throwball championship which was held at Dindigul recently. In the final, Chennai defeated Tiruchi 15-4, 15-10.

The boys’ title went to Namakkal which beat Tiruchi 15-12, 15-9 in the summit clash.

Chess selection trials

The Tiruvallur District Chess Association will conduct a selection trial tournament on February 6 and 7 as a prelude to the State U-12 and 14 (boys and girls) rapid chess championship to be held in Tiruchi.

The tournament will be held at the Sethu Bhaskara MHSS at Pudur. Only Tiruvallur District players are eligible to participate.

Players born on or before 1-1-1998 (U-12) and 1-1-1996 (U-14) are eligible. The entry fee is Rs.75 and membership fee is Rs.50 for the year.
