`I have a broad bat, I can block your questions'

Jaipur: Dilip Vengsarkar on Wednesday kept mum on coach Greg Chappell's allegation that the chief selector, fearing a media backlash, did not back the juniors while picking India's World Cup squad.

Chappell, in an SMS to a journalist, had alleged that the senior Team India cricketers resisted the inclusion of younger players when the squad was being picked. Chappell alleged Vengsarkar too sided with the senior players.

Here to watch the Ranji Trophy one-day final, Vengsarkar did not respond to the allegation. He just smiled and said he had nothing to say.

Asked if the Indian team would see some new faces, the former captain evaded the question and said, "Don't try to get answers from me. I have a broad bat, I can block your questions." PTI
