KOCHI: A move from Mumbai to Bangalore turned out to be fruitful for Vaishnavi Iyer at the eighth Geojit RSC all-India junior ranking badminton tournament at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, here on Friday.

The 11-year-old, who trains at the Prakash Padukone Academy, slayed the top two seeds, No. 1 Ruthvika Shivani in the semifinals and later second-seeded Rituparna Das on her way to her maiden under-13 girls’ title.

“Moving to Bangalore has helped me analyse my game better and made me become more confident,” said Vaishnavi, a seventh standard student in Bangalore’s Presidency School who was representing Maharashtra.
