: Usha School of Athletics continued its impressive show, as K. Sneha and Shaharbana Sidhique came up with another winning performance on Wednesday.
Sneha, who set a new record in the sub-junior 400m on Tuesday, took the 100m title in her section for her second gold of the meet, while Shaharbana claimed the junior girls’ 100m gold to add to the 400m title that she won on Tuesday.
The performance also had a bearing in the overall show of Kozhikode, which now stands third in the championship points tally.
Meanwhile, athletes of the G.V. Raja Sports School, Thiruvananthapuram, also left an indelible mark by winning two gold medals on the second day, through K. Tony Mathew (senior boys, discus) and Jennis Xavier (junior boys, javelin), besides a silver and a bronze.
However, the same could not be said of the Sports Division, Kannur, the alma mater of P.T. Usha and other athletes of calibre, which finished medal-less for a second day running. — Special Correspondent
