BANGALORE: Ulsoor Sports Union maintained a clean all-win record in the semi final league to lift the boys' crown in the State Youth (under 16) basketball championship at the Sree Kanteerava stadium courts here on Friday.

Sports School Vidyanagar claimed the girls' title for the second year in a row.

In the final league encounter on Friday afternoon, Ulsoor boys came back strongly to turn a 14-29 half time deficit against Vidya Niketan SC (VNS) to a 54-48 victory.

Harishankar (16), Sushindra (13) and Farhan (11) rose to the occasion when it mattered. Down 9-10 and 5-19 after the first two quarters, the Ulsoor boys combined well to outscore VNS in the next two at 13-7 and 27-12 for a remarkable win. Vivekananda BC (Mandya) claimed the third place. .

SS Vidyanagar, too, won all its three semifinal league matches. In the final match, the Vidyanagar girls downed Beagles 39-28 while Mounts Club beat Jayanagar SC 49-45 and claimed the runner-up slot. Three teams — Mounts, Beagles and JSC — were tied with one win each and Mounts took the second spot on better quotient while Beagles and JSC followed.

The results: Boys: Ulsoor SU 54 (Harishankar 16, Sudhindra 13, Farhan 11) bt VNS 48 (Prithvi Chengappa 24, Nikilesh 17).

For third place: VBC (Mandya) 48 (Samath 20, Nikhil 12) bt Mangalore BC 45 (Arun Mallya 19, Nehal Kumar 16).

Final standings: 1. Ulsoor SU, 2. VNS, 3. VBC (Mandya), 4. Mangalore BC.

Girls: SS Vidyanagar 39 (Pranitha 19, Manjula 9, Lavanya 9) bt Beagles 28 (Sushma 18); Mounts Club 49 (Karishma Rajan 18, Krupa 10) bt JSC 45 (Rakshitha 27).

Final standings: 1. SS Vidyanagar, 2. Mounts Club, 3. Beagles, 4. JSC .
