Pankaj Advani, who became the first Indian ever to reach the quarterfinals of a major-ranking pro snooker event, lost to World No. 2 England’s Judd Trump in the last-eight contest of the BetVictor Welsh Open at Newport on Friday.
Advani put up a brave fight after losing the first four frames and stretched the Englishman to the limit before losing 5-2.“I’ve had a fantastic tournament and lost to a terrific player. I’m really pleased with how I’ve played and hope to continue the great form going into the world championship in a few weeks,” Advani said.
Advani had beaten Graeme Dott 4-1 on Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals. — PTI
