Trials to select the National junior team in rifle and pistol will be held at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, from April 20 to 30. The last date for sending entries will be April 10.
Shooters who have achieved the qualifying scores, stipulated separately for each event, in the national championship apart from national and international competitions last year, will be eligible to take the trials.
However, the shooters have been asked to fend for themselves in terms of arms and ammunition for taking the trials, apart from taking care of their board and lodging requirements.
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has also made it clear that a copy of the passport of shooters had to be attached along with the application, so as to gain entry for the trials. The selected shooters will represent the country in international competitions.
There will be two sets of trials for each event, and it would start with the men’s free pistol, women’s air rifle and sports pistol on April 21 and 22. The rifle prone event for men and women, and men’s air pistol will be conducted on the next two days.
Rifle 3-position events for both, women’s air pistol and men’s air rifle will follow along with standard pistol, centre fire pistol, sports pistol and rapid fire pistol for men.
It has also been stressed that the selection trials would be conducted as per the latest rules of the ISSF. — Special Correspondent
