Australian striker Tolgay Ozebe found a late goal to help Mohammedan Sporting hold Kalighat MS to a 1-1 draw in a Calcutta Football League premier division (Championship Round) match, at the Kalyani Stadium, on Tuesday.
Kalighat, which went ahead through Saikat Patra’s volley from top of the box in the 36th minute, made more attacks but the Sporting defence held on to its task.
Sporting, which won the Durand Cup last month, got into damage control mode after the change of ends. Tolgay, who was the most visible man in the Sporting attack, was rewarded in the 74th minute. He got past two markers, positioned himself and finished with a low volley from 25 yards that beat the Kalighat custodian Suvam Sen.
The result: Kalighat MS 1 (Saikat Patra 36) drew with Mohammedan Sporting 1 (Tolgay Ozbey 74). — Prinicpal Correspondent
