Tamil Nadu, leading right through, downed powerful Indian Railways 76-47 in men’s league action at the eighth Savio Cup All-India basketball tournament conducted at the Don Bosco School courts, Matunga.

M.A. Raghuram emerged the top-scorer for TN with 20 points, Amjyot Singh contributed 17.

For Indian Railways, rebuilding the side after exodus of prominent players, Gagandeep (13) and Mishra (11) performed well.

Emphatic win

Women’s title contender Chhattisgarh scored an emphatic 94-44 win over Andhra Pradesh.

Poonam Chaturvedi was outstanding (29 points), supported by Anju Lakra (15) for the winner. Anusha Anto (20) did well for AP.

The results: Men: TN 76 (M.A. Raguram 20, Amjyot Singh 17) bt Indian Railways 47 (Gagandeep 13, Prakash Mishra 11).

Women: Chhattisgarh 94 (Poonam Chaturved 29, Anju LAkra 15) bt AP 44 (Anusha Anto 20, Neethu K.R. 6).

Boys: U-20: Savio 88 (Kush Lahankar 21, Luv Lahankar 16) bt Fr. Agnel 70 (Vivek P 22).

Mastan 72 (Mohsin Shaikh 31, Salman Qureshi 14) bt Fr Agnel 67 (Rohan Borkar 24, Vikas Powar 11).
