NEW DELHI: A fine half-century by Aditya Saini, who struck four 4s and two sixes, helped South Delhi Colts to a six-wicket victory over Malik Sports in a first round match of the 37th Goswami Ganesh Dutt cricket tournament at the St. Stephen's College ground, Mori Gate, on Monday.

Asked to bat, Malik Sports could muster only 171, with Vivek Verma playing a key role with a half-century. Left-arm spinner Avinash Yadav was the most successful bowler for South Delhi with three wickets.

South Delhi chased the target with 8.3 overs to spare, thanks to some fluent batting by Rahul Teotia and Mohammed Arif after Aditya's good work. In the pre-quarterfinals on Tuesday, South Delhi will meet Air India.

The scores: Malik Sports 171 in 37.3 overs (Vivek Verma 53, Vivek Sharma 27, Sunil Dagar 26, Avinash Yadav three for 27) lost to South Delhi Colts 172 for four in 31.3 overs (Aditya Saini 53, Rahul Teotia 29, Mohammed Arif 25 n.o.) .
