ONGC men in final

ONGC, Dehradun, beat BPCL, Kochi, 22-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-17 to enter the men’s final of the Red Star all-India volleyball tournament at Ambalathara, Kanhangad, on Wednesday. Southern Railway reached the women’s final, defeating Western Railway 25-22, 19-25, 25-15, 22-25, 15-8.

KE College posts win

Kuriakose Elias College, Mannanam, defeated host Sacred Heart 25-22, 25-19, 25-22 in the Musli Power Champions Volleyball League for colleges at Thevara on Thursday.

KE’s Ebin Martin, who came up with some impressive spiking, was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match.

Meanwhile at Pathanapuram, Aruvithura’s St. George defeated host St. Stephen’s 16-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-16.

Chelanur’s Sree Narayana Guru now leads the table with five wins from as many matches (15 points) while KE (six matches, four wins, 12 points) is in the next spot.

Chess tournament

The CUSAT’s Department of Physical Education and the CUSAT Chess Club will jointly conduct an all-Kerala inter-collegiate team chess tournament at the Cochin University auditorium on February 3.

Interested colleges are to report at the venue at 9.30 a.m. with a letter from the respective institution head.
