: Southern Railway registered its third successive win as it beat defending champion Chennai Customs 1-0 in the St. Joseph’s-CFA senior division league here on Friday. M. Elamurugan’s goal just before half time was enough as Customs succumbed to its second consecutive defeat.

The chief among the culprits was M. Satishkumar who missed with an open goal at his mercy 20 into the match.
Customs was punished for its misadventures as Railway’s Charles Anand Raj fed a delightful through ball to P.C. Riju, who in turn crossed it for Elamurugan to score off his chest. Riju tormented the Customs’ defence throughout the match with his quick movement and off the ball runs that made sure the defenders seldom pushed forward.
After the restart, Satishkumar fluffed his second chance of the day. With only the goalie to beat, he sent the ball straight into the hands of the keeper and midway through the second half, it was V.
