Tamil Nadu defeated Maharashtra 41-9 to lift the title of the 26th all-India postal circles kabaddi tournament that concluded at Rail Stadium here on Thursday.

In the play-off match, Kerala defeated Gujarat by a margin of four points.

C. Ranjit of Tamil Nadu circle was declared as the best player of the tournament while Maharashtra Pranjal D. Pawar was chosen best rider.

Vijayawada Postal Master General A.K.A. Joshi gave away the prizes.

The results (final): Tamil Nadu bt Maharashtra 41-9 (HT: 11-6); Play off: Kerala bt Gujarat 25-21.

Sivani, Aishwarya win

Sri Sai Sivani and Aishwarya scored a 5-3, 4-2 victory over P. Santhi and M. Alkekhya in the girls’ doubles final of the All India Tennis Association Talent Series for under-14 at NTR municipal tennis courts at Guntur on Thursday.

In the boys’ doubles final, K. Sivadeep and Nazir beat Sai Krishna and Rohan Reddy 3-6, 6-3, 11-9.

K. Sivadeep and K. Rohit will clash in the boys’ final, while K. Sai Sri Sivani and P. Santhi will cross swords in the distaff section.

The results: Final: Girls: Doubles: Sri Sai Sivani & Aishwarya bt P. Santhi & M. Alekhya 5-3, 4-2.

Vamsee Krishna shines

Central Zone made 177 in 65.5 overs against South Zone in the two-day ACA under-14 inter-zonal tournament at ACA stadium at Mangalagiri on Thursday. In reply, South registered 111 for two with Vamsee Krishna at the crease with 68.
