CHIKMAGLUR: A touch of midsummer madness marred the proceedings at the Coffee Cup ATP Challenger tournament here on Thursday when Swiss player Marco Chiudinelli, after complaining to the organisers about the lack of rooms for players, threw a chair in a fit of anger.

The chair bounced off the wall and accidentally grazed Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta's wife Himani. Subsequently the player apologised to her. However, some irate members of the public threatened to take matters into their own hands, before better sense prevailed.

As per rules, every player has to be given a room till the tournament concludes. However, this rule has been flouted, leaving many players frustrated. They have taken the matter seriously and have written to ATP officials about the lack of facilities. Principal Correspondent
