S. Surendran of S.S. Sports Academy clinched both the singles and doubles title in the 10th district-ranking snooker tournament here on Monday.

The veteran star got the better of his Academy-mate Prabu 4-2 for the title. The former raced to a 3-0 lead in quick time but the latter clawed back to claim the next two frames. At this juncture, Surendran came up with some fine safety play tactics to take the sixth frame and the title.

Earlier, Surendran combined with Thirumurugan to oust K.S. Umakanth and Easwaramoorthy combo 3-1 for the doubles title.

It was Surendran’s fifth singles and eighth doubles title.

The results (final): Singles: S. Surendran bt Prabu 4-2. Doubles: S. Surendran & Thirumurugan bt K.S. Umakanth & Easwaramoorthy 3-1.
