Sushila Chanu has been given charge of the Indian women’s team for the junior World Cup hockey to be held later this month.

Eleven of the 18 were part of the senior women’s team at the recent Hockey World League Round 3 in Rotterdam, where India finished seventh.

The Junior World Cup will be played at Monchengladbach in Germany from July 27 to August 4. India has been placed in Pool C in the competition, along with New Zealand, Russia and Australia, and has a tough opener against the Aussies on July 27.

The squad:

Goalkeepers: Sanarik Chanu, Bigan Soy. Defenders: Pinky Devi, Deep Grace Ekka, Namita Toppo, Manjeet Kaur, M.N. Poonamma, Sushila Chanu, Monika.

Midfielders: Lily Chanu, Lilima Minz, Navjot Kaur, Vandana Katariya, Ritusha Arya.

Forwards: Poonam Rani, Rani, Anupa Barla, Navneet Kaur.
