NEW DELHI: Sushil Kumar failed to win a medal as he lost to Tatsuhiro Yonemitsu of Japan in a 66 kg repechage bout in the World wrestling championships in Herning, Denmark.

In a one-sided bout, Olympic medallist Sushil was beaten 0-5 by the 11th-ranked Japanese on Monday.

The fourth-ranked Indian had made the semifinals after getting a bye and winning three bouts against Pietro Piscitelli of Italy, top-ranked Stefan Danilinc of Romania and Jabrayil Hasanov of Azerbaijan.

However, he had gone down to Russian Rasul Djukaev in the semifinals to make the repechage round.

On Tuesday, two Indians lost their first round freestyle bouts.

In 60 kg, Hardeep Singh was out-smarted by Shogo Maeda of Japan (4-10). Joginder Kumar was shown the door by Bartlomiej Bartnicki of Poland (2-6) in a 120 kg bout.
