The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) unanimously re-elected Adille Sumariwalla and C.K. Valson as president and secretary general respectively, at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Rajokri here on Saturday.

The election for the federation had been conducted in Manesar last year, but the re-election for the key posts was forced as per the directive of the Union Sports Ministry, after the amendment of the AFI’s constitution.

P.K. Srivastava was elected as the treasurer while W.I. Davaram was elected as the senior vice-president.

It was also decided in the meeting, to make selection trials mandatory for fielding athletes for all international competitions. Units that were not conducting their annual championships regularly, or fail to field their athletes in national competitions, would be disaffiliated by the AFI.
