Fourth seed E. Sukantan defeated Anirudh Ramesh to win the boys’ title at The Hindu -KTC junior (under-12) tennis tournament on Friday.
Sukantan took the first set 7-5 and broke the wildcard in the third game of the second before the latter conceded the match due to a stomach problem. The fourth seed rushed to a 3-0 lead in the opening set with a double break but Anirudh responded with a similar effort to draw level.
Sukantan then broke to lead 4-3 but gave away the advantage again in the 10th game. However, he broke back immediately and then served out the following game to take the set 7-5.
It took him just another three games to seal the win as Anirudh conceded the match.
