CAB ‘B’ team captain Sudip Chatterjee slammed an unbeaten 123 as his side posted 376 for six in 88 overs against the CAB under-19 team on the first day of the two-day league match of the S.K. Acharya Memorial Challenger cricket tournament at the Bengal Cricket Academy ground in Kalyani on Friday.
The U-19 team was penalised for bowling two overs short and the ‘B’ team was awarded 17 more runs which took its total to 393.
U-19 captain Aamir Gani opted to field on winning toss and found the CAB ‘B’ batsmen in their element. Chatterjee’s 123 not out came off 170 balls with eight fours.
Alok Sharma (66, 92b, 4x4, 1x6) and Purav Joshi (56, 86b, 8x4, 1x6) were the other principal scorers.
Ravikant Singh, Alok Sharma, Gani and Suman Debnath picked up a wicket apiece.

Mukerjea stays at helm
Jaidip Mukerjea stayed president of the Calcutta South Club for another one-year term after most of his team members swept into power at the annual general meeting of the club. Enrico Piperno has been elevated to the vice-president’s post.
This meant two renowned tennis players of the city occupied two top posts.

Panja-Sewa duo wins
Saurav Panja and Manoj Sewa won the men's doubles event of the Calcutta hardcourt tennis tournament here on Friday. The pair downed top-seeded duo of Vinod Sewa and Robin Das 6-2, 6-3 at the South Club courts. Harsh Gurnani and Mudit Kedia won the boys’ under-18 doubles title.
