A splendid unbeaten 64-run eighth-wicket stand between Wayne Parnell (29) and Juan Theron (30) took South Africa to a three-wicket win over Australia in the second Twenty20 international at Wanderers on Sunday to level the two-match series 1-1.
Man-of-the-match Theron smashed three boundaries and a six to go along with his two wickets earlier in the Autralian innings, while Parnell slammed an equal number of boundaries and two sixes as the two steadied the South African innings from a precarious 84 for seven.
Earlier, teenage debutant Mitchell Marsh hit four sixes in the last two overs to give Australia's innings a late boost.
Australia made 147 for eight in its 20 overs. Marsh hit 36 off 21 balls as the last two overs yielded 35 runs, breaking the shackles imposed by South Africa's bowlers for most of the innings.
Marsh, 19, was handed his first cap, joining brother Shaun and father Geoff as Australian international cricketers.
