The State meet in cue sport will begin from Wednesday at the Bengal Rowing Club (BRC) with the sub-junior competitions slated for the day.
Briefing newsmen, the secretary of the West Bengal Billiards Association (WBBA), Debasish Mukhopadhyay said the sub-junior meet would be a day-long knockout meet. This would be followed by junior and ladies events also to be played on knockout basis.
The senior meets will be played on knockout basis till the semifinals. There after the best four will play in league basis to decide the winner
Nationally-ranked Brijesh Damani will be the man to beat in both billiards and snooker sections. He will be challenged by veteran cueist Shyam ‘Raju' Jagtiani, Shakeel Ahmed, Manish Jain, Debasish Mukhopadhyay and Akram Khan.
The current National 9 ball pool champion Suniti Damani and Neeta Kothari, wife of former world champion and National coach Manoj Kothari, will be the ones to watch out for in the distaff section. — Special Correspondent
