After falling to the relegation zone with three losses from three matches, St. Thomas College found its touch on its home court and defeated Kochi’s Sacred Heart 25-18, 25-17, 18-25, 25-21 in the Musli Power Champions Volleyball League for colleges here.

St. Thomas has been playing without its stars, Shinto Elias and Rijas, who were away on State duty in the Youth National but against Sacred Heart, Naisam, a first year BA student, lifted the team impressively with his powerful smashes and precise jump serves. Good support also came from Vishnu and setter Sinulal.

After losing the first two sets, Sacred Heart came back strongly in the third through its counter-attacker Faisal but it did not last long.

In another match at Kolencherry, host St. Peter’s surprised Kothamangalam’s Mar Athanasius, the MG University champion, 25-20, 25-19, 27-25. — Special Correspondent
