St. Joseph’s is champion again

Chennai: For the fifth year in a row, St. Joseph’s College of Engineering (Chennai) emerged the Champion of Champions with a tally of 860 points in the Tamil Nadu inter-engineering competitions for 2007-2008, organised by the Anna University Sports Board. The trophy and other prizes were presented at a special function on Friday.

D. Viswanathan, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, who presided, hailed St. Joseph’s achievement under the leadership of Babu Manoharan, and said the institution was a role model.

Viswanathan made a fervent plea to students to devote at least an hour a day for sports.

S. Devadoss, Director of Physical Education, Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli, welcomed the gathering, and J.P. Sukumar presented a report. K. Karunakaran, Chairman, Anna University Sports Board, underlined the growing enthusiasm among the students to sports. S. Chandran, Director of Physical Education, BSA Crescent Engineering College, proposed the vote of thanks.
