In the boys category, St. Andrews School ‘A’, leading with 19.5 points after five rounds, is followed by St. Peters School and Hindu Public School with 11.5 points each.
Sr. National tennis
The 17th GVK Senior National tennis championship (veterans) will be held in three age groups — 45, 55 and 65 years — in singles and doubles from December 9 at the Lal Bahadur Stadium SAAP Tennis Complex here, according to tournament director B.S. Krishna Reddy.
The qualifying rounds will be held on the first two days and the main draw from December 11 to 16. The total prize money is Rs. 10 lakh.
Sports Minister Vatti Vasanth Kumar will be the chief guest for the inauguration, while Mr. V. Dinesh Reddy, DGP, and Mr. G.V. Krishna Reddy, chairman of GVK Group which is sponsoring the event, will be the guests of honour.
Continental wins
Continental Cricket Club scored a 48-run win over Galaxy CC in the A-Division two-day league cricket championship here.
The scores: A-Division two-day league : Continental CC 326 for seven bt Galaxy CC 278 (S. Rajender 87, Javeed 90. Jairam 38, M. Yashwanth Reddy three for 94, Bharath Raj three for 21).

VDCA academy inaugurated
Visakhapatnam District Cricket Association’s academy for under-13 players was inaugurated at the ACA-VDCA stadium in Visakhapatnam on Friday by Collector V. Sheshadri. ACA president D.V. Subba Rao, president and secretary of VDCA P. Vishnu Kumar Raju and K. Parthasaradhi, and other office-bearers of the VDCA were present. One hundred boys were selected from five zones of the city for the round-year-coaching and tournaments.
The academy would function at five venues and 30 to 40 players would be short listed for intensive coaching at two centres. Mr. Parthasardhi said this was the first academy started by a district association in the country.
Scribes’ cricket
Twelve teams will participate in the first State-level cricket tournament for journalists being organised by the Vizag Journalists Forum in association with the Vizag Sports Journalists Association (ViSJA) here from December 9 to 11.
