Akhilesh's unbeaten 64 guided Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) to a five-wicket victory over B.M. Srinivasaiah Institute of Technology (BMSIT) in a M.S. Ramaiah Memorial cricket tournament match here during the weekend.

The scores: BMSIT 161 in 29 overs lost to BIT 164 for five in 27.4 overs (Akhilesh 64 n.o., Sudeep 42 n.o.); SIT Tumkur 164 for eight in 30 overs (Shiv Kumar 46) lost to KIT 94 for three in 12.2 overs. (Target reduced to 94 in 17 overs after rain-intervention.),

MEG `B' beats COE

MEG `B' defeated Centre Of Excellence (COE) 3-1 in a Deccan Herald `A' division hockey league match at the KSHA Stadium here on Monday. Sagaya Jayaseelan, K.T. Bhopanna and Pruthvi Shetty scored for the victors while L. Guria scored COE's lone goal.

In another match, Arun Ravi's brace along with Ravi Kumar's 51st minute effort helped RWF hold BEL to a 3-3 draw. Earlier BEL moved ahead through the efforts of Baljit Singh, Prasad and Renuka Prasad.

Ajay Patil is champion

Ajay Patil emerged champion in the boys' under-16 singles event of the Badminton Wellwishers Trust State-ranking tournament that concluded at the KBA Courts here on Monday. In the final, Ajay beat the top-seeded K.R. Shankar 21-14, 22-20. Shankar however drew some comfort in his doubles title triumph as he teamed up with Anirudh Shenoy to defeat Pratap Menon and Vivek Mathew 25-23, 15-21, 21-18 in the final.

Later in the evening, a battling Shashank Menon, the second seed, went down fighting to top-seed Vinay Hari in the boys' under-13 singles final. Vinay won 18-21, 21-13, 21-19.

Earlier, S. Sudeep won the boys' under-10 singles title defeating Mithun Manjunath 14-21, 21-12, 21-17 in the final.

Kensri AITA tournament

The Kensri School Tennis Academy will conduct the AITA Talent Series tournament for under-12 boys and girls at its courts from October 21 to 27.
