BANGALORE: Beijing-bound shuttler, Anup Sridhar is a doubtful starter for the Tata Open badminton championship which gets underway in Mumbai on July 27. Sridhar had twisted his ankle during a practice session here recently and is unlikely to put pressure on his fitness by competing in an intense tournament like the Tata Open.
Though the player, kept the card close to his chest saying “I have to decide after the final word by my doctor”, it is learnt that his travelling coach Tom John has opted to stay back in Banglaore and most likely the Indian ace, would continue his training here till he leaves for Beijing.
It is learnt that even Saina Nehwal, the other qualifier for the Olympics, might also opt out of the event. — Special Correspondent
