Sourav Mondal of Kolkata Police won golds both in men’s trap and double trap events in the fourth Eastern India trap and double trap shooting championship.

He also topped in both the events in the 10th West Bengal trap and double trap shooting championship, which was held simultaneously. Raka Nilanjana Roy of Midnapore Rifle Club excelled in the women’s section, winning both the golds in the state event, and a gold and a silver in the Eastern India event. Among the other results in the Eastern India event, Abinash Pattanayak of Odisha won silver in trap (men) event. Nilanjana Roy won gold in the trap event and took silver in the double trap.

Suchismita Patra of Odisha won silver in trap and beat Roy in double trap to win gold.

West Bengal dominated the team events winning both the golds. The team events of the state championship, North Calcutta Rifle Club won gold in men’s trap while former champion Midnapore Rifle Club won the silver.

In a special ‘Champion of Champions’ trap event, where the top five shooters of the tournament participated, Shasank Sekher of Jharkhand won the title hitting eight targets out of a possible 10 in the single-shot-per-single-target match and Bappaditya Kali of Bengal was the runner-up.

Easy for Yubak Sangha

Yubak Sangha trounced J.B. Pur Women FA 10-0 in the IFA women’s football league here on Monday.

Swapna Sadhu scored a hat-trick to star for the winner while Mana Bhumij, Namita Sardar and Purni Karmakar scored two goals each. Tani Majhi completed the tally for Yubak Sangha.
