Madurai: Sourashtra College lifted the Alagappa Chettiar memorial Trophy for the sixth successive year defeating PMT College (Usilampatti) 86-69 in the last match of the four-team league in the Madurai Kamaraj University championship basketball tournament here on Thursday.

Sourashtra College emerged winner with an all-win record, while MSS Wakfboard College, which beat Raju’s College (Rajapalayam) 83-67 for its second win in the other match, finished runner-up. PMT College finished third.

National EC triumphs

At Tirunelveli, National Engineering College (Kovilpatti) won the title defeating Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering (Krishnankovil) 29-10, 25-29, 29-25 in the final of the Anna University Zone X inter-engineering college women’s ball badminton tournament on Thursday.

At Tuticorin, Ramkumar’s unbeaten 52 and Satheesh Kumar’s 53 helped Sri Ramakrishna Chidambareswarar HSS (Udankudi) defeat Karapettai Nadar HSS (Tuticorin) by eight wickets and enter the semifinals of the TDCA inter-school cricket tournament on Thursday.

South Zone Police wins

At Madurai, South Zone Police beat Vikram College of Engineering 3-2 in the Madurai District Football Association ‘A’ division league for the Hi-Tech Arai Trophy on Thursday.

Palani Kumar, Saravanan, Ravichandran scored for Police. Mohan Yogadev and Ulaganathan reduced the margin.
