: P.V. Sindhu's dreams of winning her maiden Grand Prix final were dashed when second-seeded and World No. 19 Jie Yao of the Netherlands scored a 21-16, 21-17 win in the 47- minute final of the Yonex Dutch Open Grand Prix badminton championship on Sunday evening, according to information received here.

Earlier, the 16-year-old Indian shuttler shocked World No. 11 and top-seeded Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand 21-14, 15-21, 21-13 to enter the final. This was the Hyderabad shuttler's first Grand Prix final appearance.

Sindhu, sponsored by Olympic Gold Quest, had earlier defeated World No. 22 Juan Gu of Singapore in the first round.

“It was a disappointing end but at the same time a huge learning experience,” the young shuttler told her parents after the loss. “If only I had won the first game, may be the story would have been different,” she felt.
