: Just when Navratna Ahmedabad appeared to have sealed its place in a second successive final of the Louis Philippe Cup, Vinod Kumar triple-bogeyed the final hole of the deciding match against Himmat Rai to hand over Silverglades Delhi a place in the title-clash against DLF Gurgaon.
Vinod, leading by two strokes on the final hole, incurred a two-stroke penalty for twice finding the water hazard with his tee-shots. With Himmat signing off by finding par for a 72, Vinod’s 73 proved too costly for the defending champion.
Rai’s one-stroke victory provided the winning margin since Rashid Khan had beaten Vikrant Gupta 73-75. For Ahmedabad, Mithun Perera easily beat Shamim Khan 70-74 to keep the contest alive until Vinod messed up the final hole.
