Varsha & Aishwarya

Varsha Gautham and Aishwarya Nedunchezhiyan won the girls’ bronze medal at the prestigious 29er Eurocup #2 held in France by Yacht Club de Cavalaire recently.

Eurocup regattas are premier European events leading up to the Youth World championships to be held in Denmark in late July, according to a press release from the Tamil Nadu Sailing Association.

Varsha and Aishwarya along with K.C. Ganapathy and Varun Thakkar had come in for praise only recently when the four 29er sailors from TNSA had won a gold and a silver in the ‘Sail the Gulf’ international regatta held in Doha. At the French meet, all four qualified to the gold fleet at the end of six races with the boys finishing 12th and the girls 38th overall.

In the subsequent 3-medal races, Ganapathy and Varun finished 14th while Varsha and Aishwarya won the bronze after finishing 40th overall.

Subbarao-Ravindran duo wins

The pair of V. Subbarao and T.M. Ravindran, playing East-West, was declared the winner with a score of 64.16 IMPs in the TNSC weekly bridge tournament. N. Niranjan and S. Vijayaraghavan came first from North-South with 61.74 IMPs.
