Chennai: The nineteenth facility for shooting in Tamil Nadu was inaugurated on Sunday by C. Sylendrababu, Inspector General of Police, at the TNPL Sports Complex, Kagithapuram, about 18 kms. off Karur.
Mr. Sylendrababu, the man behind the project, pointed out that the state-of-the-art pistols like Morne from Switzerland and Steyer from Austria have been acquired for the club. The TNPL range has 20 targets. He also thanked the authorities at TNPL for providing all the support to establish the range.
Former National champion and international shooter, Geetha Shankar, conducted a preliminary coaching for girls.
Mr. T.N. Venkatesh, Collector, Karur District, welcomed the formation of the club and range as to trigger interest among the local students. Mr. V. Moorthy, Managing Director, TNPL, underscored the role of the institution in promoting various welfare measures for the employees and people in and around the area.
Mr. A.K. Balashanmugam, Secretary, Tamil Nadu Shooting Association, appealed to the authorities to air-condition the range. National coach, Lingam also participated.
