A good spell by Shivaprasad (six for 54) helped Sporting XI defeat Nizam College by 80 runs in the A-Division (two-day) league cricket championship here on Saturday.

The scores: A-Division (two-day) league: Saleemnagar 149 lost to P & T Colony 151 for six (Tanmay Agarwal 88 not out).

Sporting XI 192 bt Nizam College 112 (Shiva Kumar 35, Shivaprasad six for 54).

Zinda 158 lost to New Blues 160 for seven (Sandeep Goud 30, Samiullah 40, Karunakar four for 35).

Schools league

Hyderabad Cricket Association's school league championship (one-day) will commence from August 8 at different grounds in the twin cities. The draw copies have been despatched and also displayed on the notice board of HCA office at Gymkhana Grounds.

The participating teams have been asked to register their players for the above event.

Easy win

Central Excise scored an easy 4-0 win over City College Old Boys in the Rahim Centenary football league championship at Gymkhana Grounds here. Excise took the lead in the seventh minute when striker Tebo converted a penalty-kick awarded by referee James after a CCOB defender handled the ball inside the penalty area.

Just before the break, Sashank struck twice to give Excise 3-0 at the break.

On resumption, Tebo again scored to complete the tally for the winner.
