It is constructing 11 offshore support vessels
Cochin Shipyard Ltd. (CSL), on Saturday, delivered a platform supply vessel to Purple Fleet Ltd., an affiliate of Tide Water Marine International, U.S.
The vessel, Trounson Tide, is the fifth such vessel the shipyard has delivered to customers during this financial year and the 18th so far. It is the second to Tide Water Marine this financial year, the other customer being Vroon Offshore Division. The protocol documents of the ship were signed by Jose Mathew, Chief General Manager (Shipbuilding) on behalf of the shipyard and Thomas Davis on behalf of the owners.
Cochin Shipyard is, at present, constructing 11 offshore support vessels for foreign and Indian owners. The yard is entrusted with the construction of prestigious Indigenous Aircraft Carrier Project of the Navy. The platform supply vessels are of the popular UT 755 LN design for the off- shore industry. The vessel is designed to satisfy the specific demands of transporting deck cargo, pipes, liquid cargo, cement, barite and so on and unloading these to rigs, production platforms, pipe-laying barges and so on.
They are the workhorse of the offshore oil-field industry, acting as a lifeline carrying operational supplies and stores to far-off offshore installations. The ship is built and classified under the most stringent rules and regulations of Det Norske Veritas and is classed for unmanned engine room and dynamic positioning grade II. The vessel satisfies “CLEAN” Notation of DNV, which signifies high standards of environmental safety.
