Bangalore: Sudhindra Shinde’s 148 and skipper Yere Goud’s unbeaten 53, helped Karnataka score 293 for five at close on the opening day of the practice match against Bengal here on Thursday.

Yere Goud opted to bat and found his decision vindicated by Shinde’s ton. Shinde has been in fine form in the league, and his knock was spread over 209 deliveries that included 23 fours and two sixes.

Shinde found some support from Goud and Deepak Chougule (36) while for Bengal, seamer S.S. Paul grabbed two wickets. This four-day match is one among the two matches scheduled as part of Karnataka’s build-up to the forthcoming Ranji season.
