Tamil Nadu's Vijay Sunder Prashanth and Sheethal Goutham of Karnataka have been given the pride of place in the men's and women's singles events of the Enerzal Open senior National-ranking tennis tournament, to be conducted by Tennis Excellence at its courts in Kothanur, from January 8 to 14. The event carries a total prize money of Rs. 3.5 lakhs.
Arjun Goutham, Director of Tennis Excellence, said: “There are hardly a few National-ranking events for seniors and this event is to bridge that gap. We had three junior National-level events last year and with the support of corporates, we intend to conduct more events for both seniors and juniors in the coming years.”
Billiards and snooker champion Pankaj Advani lent his support to the tournament and promised to interact with the juniors who will be testing their skills against some of the seasoned seniors.

Praneet, Rahul shine
Centuries by Praneet Reddy and B. Rahul led Hyderabad to a thrilling win over Tamil Nadu in their two-day match in the KSCA South-Zone under-14 cricket tournament here on Thursday. Chasing 374 in 100 overs, Hyderabad met the target with an over and two wickets two spare, Praneet staying unbeaten on 136.
Karnataka 274 in 94 overs bt Kerala 124 in 41.1 overs (Ajil Das 49, Bharath Surya 28, Adhoksh Hegde four for 34).
Tamil Nadu 373 for seven in 100 overs lost to Hyderabad 377 for eight in 99 overs (Praneet Reddy 136 n.o., B. Rahul 101, Aravind 40, Jaisurya 27).
