NEW DELHI: Shahbaaz Khan fought his way past Rakshay Thakkar 7-6(5), 3-6, 7-5 in the first qualifying round of the $15,000 ITF men's Futures tennis tournament on the newly laid Rebound Ace surface of the DLTA Complex here on Saturday.

The Chinese provided a hint of their strong presence as four of them cruised into the second and final qualifying round.

Kamala Kannan, Abhijeet Tiwari, Sudanwa Sitaram, Akash Wagh, Vinayak Sharma, Ronak Manuja, Siddharth Rawat, Kunal Anand and Mansingh Athare kept the Indian hopes alive.
