Patnaik stuns Raju
P.K. Patnaik shocked top-seeded P.R. Raju of Andhra Pradesh 6-4, 6-4 in the singles final of the over 55 years category of the Circars AITA veterans' tennis tournament at Kakinada.

Selection trials to pick the Andhra Pradesh youth men's and women's volleyball teams will be held at the Lal Bahadur Stadium, Hyderabad on April 7 and 8. The teams will take part in the National youth championships at Vatakara, Kerala from April 29 to May 6. Players attending the trials should produce birth certificates, as only those born on or after January 1, 1986 are eligible.
Sethu Kannan will take on U. Srinath in the final of the TCS Cup corporate tennis tournament, in Hyderabad. In the semifinals, Sethu Kannan of GVK Industries defeated Abhinav Jhingan 6-1, 6-2, while U. Srinath of Satya Vani got the better of Ch. Kannan of Infosys 6-3, 6-2.
Fateh Maidan Club will organise inter-club tennis tournament for markers and pickers of all clubs and coaching centres in the twin cities for the Mar-Pic Rolling Trophy on March 22 and 23.

Syam scalps five
A five-wicket haul by N. Syam Sundar that followed fine batting earned Visakhapatnam Port Sports Council a huge 195-run win over Vizag Blues in the quarterfinals of the 14th The Hindu Trophy annual prize money cricket tournament at the ACA-VDCA stadium here on Friday.
Last year's joint winner Metro CC coasted to a 150-run win over Victoria CC in another quarterfinal. J.T. Yadav scored 94 (10x4) and picked up two wickets for Metro.
