Teams from Goa, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kolkata made it to the semifinals of the National slum football championship at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Thursday.
In four-a-side matches, Goa beat Jammu and Kashmir 5-0, Karnataka 7-0 and Maharashtra 12-1 to garner nine points and top Group B. Karnataka, which was tied with two other teams on three points, managed to reach the last four on the basis of goals scored.
In Group A, Kolkata defeated Uttarakhand 8-2, Vidarbha 4-1 and Tamil Nadu 7-2 on its way to the semis.
Tamil Nadu beat Vidarbha 6-4 and Uttarakhand 5-2 to get six points and qualify from the group as the second team.
Goa will meet Tamil Nadu, while Kolkata will take on Karnataka in the semifinals. — Principal Correspondent
