Kings XI Punjab coach Darren Lehmann said on Wednesday that his team must seize the big moments in the remaining five matches to make an impact in IPL-VI.
“We have, probably, played well 80 per cent of the times in most games but have missed out because we have failed to seize the big moments,” said Lehmann.
“We have missed a catch here and there or not taken our chances with bat or ball. We have not been able to get our plans right in crunch situations. However, I thought we did that really well the other night against Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the remaining games, we need to make sure we get the 20 per cent right too.” Lehmann said the victory against RCB had instilled a lot of confidence in the side and the KXIP coach did not rule out the possibility of promoting the in-form David Miller, the chief architect of the win over RCB, up the order.
“It is just the way things have shaped up at the moment that he is batting at five. He batted at four when we chased down 185 against Pune Warriors. It depends on the bowling attack and the match situation. But, he can bat anywhere and still score runs,” said the Aussie.
Lehmann said KXIP must begin well against a top team like RR.
“I think they have a pretty good team. They have had a similar side for a while now and Rahul (Dravid) has done a good job with the young team. In T20, what matters most is how to start the game and get on the top,” said Lehmann. — Principal Correspondent
