On a day that saw nine seeded players lose in the under-13 category, 11th-seeded Chayanit Joshi of Uttarakhand and No. 12 R. Pranay of AP were eliminated in the first round of the all-India sub-junior ranking badminton tournament in Durgapur on Thursday.

Also losing were 13th seed Dhruv Rawat and 16th seed Sahruday Gokarapu of AP.

Seed No. 8 in the boys’ and No. 7 in the girls’ section, Jacob Thomas of Kerala and Priya Shukla of UP, failed to turn up for their matches.
