The final round script followed an expected course with Bengal’s Sayantan Das and Goa’s Ivana Furtado settling for draws to win the National junior chess titles here on Thursday.

Sayantan, seeded four, played out a 33-move draw with second seed S.L. Narayanan (Kerala) to top the field following a tally of 9.5 points from 11 rounds.

He remained unbeaten and finished half a point clear of former champion Tamil Nadu’s Aravindh Chithambaram.

In the girls’ section, Ivana drew with TN’s G. K. Monnisha to reach nine points. Though defending champion and second seed Rucha Pujari matched Ivana’s tally by beating TN’s M. Mahalakshmi, the Goan girl took the title on superior tie-break score.
