Sardar Singh will lead the Indian hockey team for the Netherlands’ tour from April 27 to May 9.

India’s No. 1 goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh, midfielder Birendra Lakra and striker Gurvinder Singh Chandi are the major omissions from the 18-member squad.

This is a preparatory tour for the team, which is scheduled to play the World Hockey League Round 3 (semifinals) in Rotterdam from June 13-23.

The event is the qualifier for the 2014 World Cup to be held in Hague, Netherlands.

The Indian team will play seven matches.
