NEW DELHI: Sania Mirza pulled out of the second round of the singles event as well in the $1.34 million Qatar Total Open in Doha on Wednesday. The 20-year-old was grappling with the hyper-extension of the knee, and had pulled out of the doubles event earlier.

"The injury does not seem serious, but the experts felt that the chances of aggravating it and losing a few months were too great. It was a tough decision, but hopefully she should be better in the next few days,'' said Sania's father, Imran Mirza.

"Since she continued playing the singles despite the injury, she seems to have injured her groin muscle as well. An MRI will help us know the exact situation by tomorrow,'' said Imran Mirza. Special Correspondent
