HYDERABAD: A century by Sandesh Bailapnor (109 not out, 5 x 4) and a good spell by Raju Kalal (five for 21, including a hat-trick) helped Karnatak University (Dharwad) record a 272-run win over Acharya NG Ranga University (Hyderabad) in the South Zone inter-university cricket tournament here on Wednesday.

The scores: Periyar University 84 in 15.1 overs (Deepesh three for 20, Syed Mohammed three for 17) lost to SRM Institute of Science & Technology (Kancheepuram) 88 for six in 10.5 overs (Vasudeva Dass 32 not out, G. Selvan three for 23).

Karnatak University (Dharwad) 361 for five in 50 overs (Sandesh Bailapnor 109 not out, Mannur Sindigiri 95, Kiran Prabhu three for 59) bt Acharya NG Ranga University (Hyderabad) 89 (Raju Kalal five for 21).

Bharatiyar University 223 in 39.2 overs (B. Abdul Rahman 45, R. Tarun 55, K.N. Sundaramani 34) bt Kannur University 81 in 23.2 overs (R. Venkatesh three for 26, S. Karthikeyan four for 28).
