: A controlled century by Samarth Ravikumar took Jain University, Bangalore to a challenging total against University of Mumbai in the final of the all-India inter-university cricket tournament here on Saturday.
At the end of day one of the two-day final, Ravikumar remained unbeaten on 123 off 151 balls. Ravikumar kept the scoring rate moving with singles and the occasional boundary, playing the role of an anchor to perfection. Steady contributions from captain Kaunian Abbas (50) and Liyan Khan (46) also helped the cause, with all the Jain batsmen recognising the importance of batting out its full quota of 90 overs.
Left-arm spinner Vinit Dhulad was once again among the wickets for Mumbai, taking three on Saturday, after a four-wicket haul in the semifinal earlier. Mumbai will face a tough ask on Sunday, chasing 336.
