BANGALORE: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) snatched full points through a dubious penalty goal against a fighting Sports Authority of India (SAI) in the senior division football league for the George Hoover Cup at the football stadium here this evening.

In a match that was listless to say the least, BEL got its all-important goal in the 76th minute of play when a Arvind cross inadvertently struck stopper back Jaikumar's hands. Referee Senthil Vel pointed to the dreaded spot and to add to Jaikumar's woes even showed him a yellow card. The resultant penalty was neatly converted by Jayavardhan.

Even as SAI boys enjoyed better ball possession it was BEL that almost added to the tally but Arvind saw his effort from just outside the box rebound off the cross piece.

SAI which had just one shy at the goal with Arockiaraj woefully off target, saw Sathyaraj making a fine solo run but lost possession just inside the `d'.

BEL with this win has six points from three matches, having won against CIL and losing to HAL. SAI which had surprised fancied KSP in its earlier outing had drawn 1-1 against AGORC in its only other match, thus far.

Southern Blues trounced BEML (EM) in an A division encounter earlier, Bhuvaneshwar (41st, 78th), Satish (59th) and Udaya Kumar (74th) were the scorers for the winners. Southern Blues has two wins and a defeat while for BEML (EM) this was its second loss against a draw.
