Unseeded Roshni Sen beat top-seed Shweta Sen while Insha Rahman downed third-seeded Anushka Burman in the eventful girls’ under-16 quarterfinals of the BTA ranking tennis tournament on Friday.

Boys: Under-18: Harsh Gurnani bt Ganesh Paswan 5-3, 4-0, Yuvraj Bains bt Rishab Jha 4-1, 4-1, Aayush Poddar bt Ishaan Tibrewal 3-5, 4-2, 4-2, Arghya Das bt Akshat Agarwal 4-1, 4-1.

Under-14: Arghya Das bt Kingshook Mallik 4-0, 4-0; Akshat Agarwal bt Arnab Banerjee 4-2, 4-0; Ishaan Tibrewal bt Kemp O’Brien 4-0, 4-0; Raunak Basu bt Rupkar Kundu 4-0, 5-3. Andaman marathon

The second edition of the Amway Andaman Marathon is expected to see a good turnout with more than 700 runners already confirming their participation for the event scheduled on Sunday.

The run will have two categories — 21km and 10 km — and will be held on the streets of capital Port Blair.

The event has a total prize money of Rs. 6.6 lakh and is aimed at spreading awareness about health and fitness.

Riya in quarters

Riya Mookherjee of Bengal showed good form to reach the girls’ under-19 quarterfinals of the junior National badminton being played at Imphal. Riya upset second-seeded Sara Naqvi of Uttar Pradesh 18-21, 21-14, 22-20 in the third round before downing Leela Laxmi of Andhra Pradesh 21-11, 15-21, 21-15 to reach the last eight round.
