Rohini Rau of the Royal Madras Yacht Club, Chennai, registered an unparalleled seventh consecutive National title after her latest success in the laser coastal National championship in Mumbai.

Adding lustre to her show was her second-place finish in the Open category even though she had tied on points with the eventual winner Dharmender Singh of the Army Yachting Node, Mumbai.

As per the rule when two participants tie on points, the one who wins the last race is declared the overall winner. Dharmender had finished ahead of the Chennai girl.

It was a closely fought regatta where the results were decided only by the end of the final race in the 12-race series. Rohini attributed her progress to the hard work and expert guidance of coaches, Allen Julie, Arthur Brett, Belinda Stowell and Pete Conway.

Rohini, who aspires to qualify for the 2012 Olympics, is heading for Europe next.
